At Language Lab, we offer a wide range of online language classes for people who are refugees or migrants (living in the EU), including those who are undocumented. Our paid members can also attend the classes, for only 20 euros a month.
New courses start every 3 months and classes take place 2 times a week. Registrations for autumn term are closed!
Registrations for 2026 will open the first week of January.

How to register
Scholarship for migrants & refugees
Our free online language classes are open to migrants and refugees, including those who are undocumented. Students must live in the EU to attend the classes and those who live in Barcelona can attend Language Lab’s cultural excursions and language exchanges.
(If you have already completed a scholarship application you can register for classes using the same link you received by email when it was first approved)
Course entry as a paid OCC member
For 20€/month, our paid members can also attend our free online classes and in-person classes. With membership, they are sent a copy of “Amigo Mio”, a book produced by Open Cultural Center, with the words and drawings of children living in Cherso camp in Northern Greece.

Whether you’re practicing a new language or supporting someone learning yours, our Language Buddy programme is a great way to improve your language skills in-person and connect with others.
Volunteer with Language Lab
Teach a course!
Our language classes are taught by volunteers. All our online teachers receive a certificate of participation, plus, with a 9-month commitment of online teaching, they also have the opportunity to take a certified teacher training course!
Support a student!
If you are searching for a more flexible and informal volunteer role, you can become a volunteer buddy, providing one to one support to a Language Lab student, through language practice and conversation in-person or online.
