Pero, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 ocurre esto? Desde 2017, el Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (ACNUR) se encargaba de pagar la prestaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica de 200.000 solicitantes de asilo procedentes de Grecia. Sin embargo, desde septiembre de 2021, el gobierno griego se ha hecho cargo del programa de asistencia. Las consecuencias no s\u00f3lo han sido los retrasos en tan vitales asignaciones, sino tambi\u00e9n la puesta en marcha de un sistema de distribuci\u00f3n de alimentos que ha sorprendido a muchos residentes en el campamento.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shakiba (19), que vive en Nea Kavala desde hace dos a\u00f1os y medio, describe esta situaci\u00f3n como \"realmente aburrida y preocupante\". Explica que \"se emiti\u00f3 un mensaje en el que se dec\u00eda que se distribuir\u00edan alimentos durante un periodo de tiempo desconocido y que los inmigrantes no recibir\u00edan dinero durante unos tres meses\". De repente, las personas a las que se hab\u00eda concedido el estatuto de refugiado y aquellas cuyos recursos de asilo hab\u00edan sido rechazados dejaron de tener derecho a estas ayudas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los funcionarios de asilo est\u00e1n retrasando gravemente el proceso de asilo.<\/p>Shakiba (19)<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Seg\u00fan Shakiba, la principal raz\u00f3n de las protestas que tuvieron lugar en octubre es que \"los funcionarios de asilo est\u00e1n retrasando mucho el proceso de asilo\", lo que afecta claramente a la selecci\u00f3n de los beneficiarios de estos subsidios. \"Hace poco hice una entrevista y, seg\u00fan la nueva ley, los que han sido entrevistados en los \u00faltimos cuatro o cinco meses deben, de hecho, pasar dos entrevistas\".
