While much of Europe tightens its stance on migration, Spain is taking a different approach—recognizing migrants as a vital resource for the future of its welfare state. Immigration has played a key role in Spain’s economic recovery.

Amina Bibi, originally trained in computer science in Pakistan, found new opportunities in Spain through a training program offered by a support organization in Barcelona. After completing a short course, she secured a permanent position as a full-stack developer in a Barcelona-based tech firm. Her success story reflects Spain’s more inclusive migration policies, which are helping skilled migrants integrate into the workforce and contribute to the country’s growing tech industry.

The TRUE STORIES project, launched by the French Red Cross in collaboration with Louie Media and Open Cultural Centre, aims to transform the representation of migration on social media. Through podcasts, videos, and multimedia training, it empowers migrants and refugees to share their own stories. Six podcast episodes will be produced in multiple languages, alongside training workshops in Paris, Barcelona, and Polykastro.

Itineraris de vida: de la por a l’esperança presents the experiences of six individuals forced to leave their countries for various reasons: SOLY from Senegal, HELENA from Bolivia, SAID from Syria, RUTH from El Salvador, and MERIEM and OSSAMA from Morocco. Through their personal stories, the book explores the challenges and emotions faced by migrants, including fear, uncertainty, and injustice, as they leave their past lives behind in search of a better future. Despite these hardships, the narratives highlight human resilience, hope, and the importance of solidarity and support from organizations that assist in their integration. These organizations provide essential resources, from job training to psychological support, helping immigrants not only survive but thrive in their new environments.
